The hydrant team were immensely pleased - although not surprised to hear - that Chester Race Company have recently won the award for "Best Tourism Website of the Year" at the Visit Chester and Cheshire annual awards ceremony. Apparently the judges thought the racecourse site was "clear, easy-to-navigate, informative and made good use of video content and social media links." Well, we think so too.
When Chester Race Company approached us back in Summer 2009 to develop their new web site, we knew it was going to be an interesting challenge. The client wanted to promote the racecourse as the UK’s leading-edge sports and leisure venue in this field, and needed to tie in their restaurant, hotel, and conferencing and events businesses. They also wanted more control over each of these sites.
Hydrant provided what Rob March, Head of Marketing and Communications for the Race Company describes as "the ideal solution." We designed and built a content management system (CMS) using Drupal that provides greater flexibility, better functionality and improved usability across all the company’s hospitality, restaurant and conference and event sites. We also developed a mobile version of the racecourse site, giving race goers a valuable tool that complements their race-day experience.
